Indian Wedding at Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos
Reema & Nikhil

8th - 10th August, 2019
Bride and groom, Reema and Nikhil hosted their opulent 3-day Indian Wedding at the Hard Rock Hotel in Cabo San Lucas in Baja California. Despite the modern twist, their wedding was coupled with a flurry of colour and grandiose outfits designed by acclaimed designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. An idyllic fusion of cultural traditions combined with a stylish modern-day approach.
Wedding Welcome Party in Cabo San Lucas
The Indian Wedding celebrations commenced on Thursday, 8th August with an evening Welcome party for Reema and Nikhil´s 250 wedding guests. While we briefly led them both away for a short and candid photo shoot on the shoreline at sunset. Later, they re-joined their guests for a fun-filled evening of smiles and dancing, combined with a dazzling fire show with dancers.
Mehndi and Sangeet
Friday morning commenced with a mehndi ceremony on one of the roof terrace at Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos. A colourfully decorated mixture of Indian and Mexican decor and furniture set the tone. More traditions followed with more singing and dancing.
Reema and Nikhil changed their attire for the Sangeet in the evening, which was nothing short of spectacular. Traditional exchanges of gifts between family, more cultural ceremonies and then professional dancers started the evening off. Followed by some beautifully choreographed dances by family, friends and of course, the bride and groom.
Churra and Haldi
The churra and haldi ceremonies took place on the Saturday morning before the Indian wedding ceremony. This was proceeded by fun throwing of water balloons and water pistols. And consequently, the bride and groom joined in the hotels aqua aerobics class for a bit of extra fun!
Indian Wedding Ceremony and Wedding Reception
The baraat in late afternoon lead up to the Indian wedding ceremomy. Nikhil chose to arrive on a quad bike rather than on horseback, as the tradition goes. For their unplugged wedding ceremony, Reema the bride abstained from the traditional reds and pinks. She wore a stunning orange lehenga by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. While Nikhil the groom wore a white sherwani and a floral safa. The ceremony being held at sunset on the beach, whilst the crashing waves of the pacific shore could be heard softly in the distance.
At the bride and grooms request, we only took candid photos of their wedding. My photography style normally does tend to incline towards an editorial style. But it is always good to take on a new challenge and it worked out well.
Finally at the wedding reception, there were speeches from a few key family members before the guests tucked into their evening meal. And....more dancing! Overall, it was a stunning 3 day celebration. Here is a summary of their beautiful Indian wedding in Mexico in pictures:
